I start each day by thanking our heavenly father for my family he has so graciously given me in life and for watching over them while keeping them healthy and safe.
I am a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. I have 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. I have many other children that also call me grandma that I am proud to call grandchildren. I have been very blessed.
My husband of 40 plus years passed away with cancer. L.E. Williams and I were married in March of 2005. He is a very fine man and is always there for me. L.E has five children, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Together we have 9 children, 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
We love to see the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. At those special holidays most of our family gathers at our home for dinner and a bit of catching up.
I enjoy cooking and can whip up a mean baked ham and baked beans. I usually do this for the Concealed Handgun Courses that we have once a month. For Thanksgiving and Christmas it is baked ham, turkey, dressing and all the trimmings. L.E. and I also own and operate Astro Shooting Range. I enjoy meeting and working with all the people that come to the range. Although we have many individuals that are not in the military come to the range, the majority of the people are from Fort Hood. We have over 12,000 members. It is amazing to talk to our military men and women and to hear what is happening to them. We are so proud to know them and to have them defending our freedom.
As to my work ethics, I usually start early and work pretty late. I enjoy research and detail work. I guess that is why I like the audit and appeal work that I currently perform for school districts all over the state. When my family was growing up most of my time was spent working and doing things with them.
During my working years I was exposed to the good, the bad, and the ugly of politics. Since my family is grown, I would like to try and take some of the bad and the ugly out of politics. I would like to bring back to politics the relationship between the elected official and the citizen that elected them. It seems that once elected the prestige and glamour of the political office takes precedence over what the elected official is actually there to do. It appears that pressure from contributors or other elected officials take priority over right and wrong. I would like to see honesty and integrity brought back to public offices.
I would like to make a difference, especially for my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as all other children, grandchildren and great grandchildren so that the word politician is a word that can be honored and respected once again. We can then begin cleaning up the old legislation and start writing legislation that is fair to all. The system has been patched too many times. It is kind of like an old computer system that has been patched throughout the years and you find out that the output is inaccurate. I feel that patched legislation should be stopped, reconfigured, tested and be introduced as new legislation.
My personality type is not as outgoing as most politicians but I have the knowledge, experience, and ability to be the best State Representative that is available to you. My intent is to make sure everyone is updated on what is going on because it is my belief that groups of people getting together to discuss issues, engaging in thought processing, reviewing the pros and cons, and coming up with the best way of introducing a bill, would be the most effective way to get a good solid bill passed. For those that look at the bills on the legislative site you have noticed that someone will author or co-author a bill, well how about seeing a bill authored and co-authored by you, the citizen, and the elected official that you put there.
